Final Exam Study Guide

1) First you click the SERVER DRIVE then you wait for the little screen to pop up okay it then got to my computer. When you get there go to the folder for Photo J and find your folder and open it.
2) We use blogger to post all the things we need like are assignments and to post the pictures we have shot.
3) All you need is an oatmeal can, Two pieces of black construction tape and black tape to cover the top side of the lid and bottom you also need to blackout the inside of the cans wall and floor. Once that's done you close it cut about an inch square out of the can and open it again and fill the hole with a thin layer of Foil then poke one hole through the foil, once that's done you can seal that foil strip off with a tape made flap. Once all these steps are done you have your pinhole camera.
4) There is light sensitive paper inside the actual can once the light enters the can for however many seconds it takes a pic. Once closed the light is trapped within the can and it really just dies out after its shut leaving an unseen picture on the light sensitive white paper.
5a) Rule Of Thirds -Imagine that your image is divided into nine equal segments by two vertical and two horizontal lines. Try to position the most important elements in your scene along these lines, or at the points where they intersect.
5b) Balancing Elements -Balance the 'weight' of your subject by including another object of lesser importance to fill the space.
5c) Leading Lines -When we look at a photo our eye is naturally drawn along lines.
5d) Symmetry And Patterns - A pattern of something man made or even naturally caused.
5e) Viewpoint -Consider photographing from high above, down at ground level, from the side, from the back, from a long way away, from very close up, and so on.
5f) Background -To have a simple background or something that is very vibrant in the back
5g) Creating Depth - The trick with creating depth is to have different levels or boundaries before your actual subject.
5h) Framing - Framing is caused by either man made or natural things out in the world that is framing your subject.
5i) Cropping is caused when a person shoots a picture and either takes something out or moves the subject completely to a new shot but without taking another picture.
5j) Merger And Avoiding - Avoiding merger can be done by just making sure there is nothing sticking out of your subject that doesn't belong there.
6) It really creates a mood that cant be explained also it lets you get poses and facial expressions that you couldn't normally get in a regular shot.
7) bringing an album of pictures can tell all sorts of story's because they have so much to think on and you kind of feel in the rest with your own thoughts.
8)Multiple Pictures or Slideshow
9. You use the 5 W's and 1 H in the first sentence and explain what your looking at in the photo in the second sentence.
10. It shows the action the subject is doing.
11. In fashion photography theyre changing the image which is a bad thing to do because its not what really happened in the photo so its wrong to do it in regular photography too.
12. A portrait is a photo that has different objects in it and a self portrait is a picture of yourself or someone else.
13. A good portrait must include at least 4 of the rules of composition and be able to tell a story also.
14. Yearbooks have pictures of every student at the school and events that happened during the whole year and newspapers tell the daily news of your community or city.

Theme Parks

1) I would like to visit the park in Greenland because it just looks very scary and at the same time it looks like some things are still in tact plus dangerous.
3) The U.T. Tower, Submarine, Old House, The Woods
5) Because it has a dangerous fill to it and not only that you could find a lot of styles you could bump into. Like leading lines and viewpoint.
6) Well my location wouldn't be hard to find because the U.T. tower is in the middle of the city, so I'm guessing just a drive and take my camera and get ready to shoot.

My First Print

1) The picture's on the wall are really in focus cause you can really read the posters so I'll go with that as my sharp focus.
A) Most of the things are in focus there are very few things that aren't i really cant tell.
B)None

2) To me there is really good contrast as the pic goes up into the light it makes a smooth transition from dark to light.

3) Yes it followed all the rules and the way I took the pic was really good cause I feel I got a real good shot of real work and honesty because they didn't know I took it. My subject was the class as a whole so it really filled the frame.

4) There are few spots and it was most likely caused because of the drying process when i had to wipe it down.

5) No

6) Yes Sir they are

Self Portraits

The reason i really like this pic is because i like that the subject actually looks like they are into something also it has a style of photography in it which is lines if you look in the background at the books. I would like to shoot a picture that has other qualities in it other than a good looking subject i want a unique picture as a whole.
Self Portrait- The one of the lady looking up is really nice because she made it seem like she was waiting on something, and i also like the way she used leading lines to draw my eyes to the subject and it also uses the rule of thirds.

Ethics In Model Photo

1.) They changed a lot her lips, hair, how long her face was and also thinned her neck to make her look thin.
2.) Well i don't think so because then you okay younger girls to try to become a person who was digitally made and they might not know that they will never become that person.
3.) I could see it being okay if a superstar was like exposed and they wanted to cover something up but that's it.
4.) Small changes aren't bad like if a fly was on her face right when they shot the pic or something but nothing.
5.) Fashion Photography is more Cloths shoots and the other is more buildings and people kinda stuff

Negative Evaluation

1.) Well i Feel all of them were okay none of them were really over the top to me.
2.) I feel maybe two wont come out as nice as i would like but only because i was a lil off with the light balance but took a risk and took it.
3.) I took a pic of Ms. Bagnals class i think that had to be the best one.
4.) I think that my main strong point was focusing the camera i feel like i did a good job of that in each picture with that.
5.) I think i shot a real good rule of thirds picture in there and also a simplicity.

Photo Manipulation

A.)The whole thing is basically about the photographer changing pictures and making them seem a lot more worse than they are, for example the missile picture. As i ventured through the pictures i noticed that they even do this in everyday pictures and also political ones, this could be a major problem and i feel that some day this could be the cause of a war.
B.) Cause this can mislead people to make them start up something like war over not publishing the right picture, so i think this is unethical but at the same time it could jump start good things like recruiting if we are largely undersized as a army and war is coming.

1.)Least unethical because it recruiting for something good which is education.
2.) The army picture is so unethical cause they are basically covering up what we do to people and leaving us in the dark about what actually goes on across seas, and we wonder why terrorist attack our troops and are home land.

Cartels

Honestly i think that this whole cartel thing is very dumb there are to many people put risk, also fathers who might die in the shoot outs" Before Juarez was ready to be elected, there was a severd head left in front of his house". I think the best thing for us to do is to aproach this thing differently like pass a law that allows are troops to go in on the major drug dealers supporting these associations that way we can move ahead as people.

My favorite picture had to be the swat guy walking up and down the street to me it shows like he is confident but also worried about what is about to take place. It also shows the style of photogrphy Simplicity, and to me simple is always the way to go.

Vocabulary

Emulsion- Any suspension of liquid in another liquid
Masking Easle- A stand or frame for supporting or displaying at a angle
Exposure- The act of exposing
Safe Light- A darkroom light with a filter that transmits only those rays of the spectrum to which films, printing paper, etc., are not sensitive.
Dodging- Also, hold back. Photography . (in printing) to shade (an area of a print) from exposure for a period, while exposing the remainder of the print in order to lighten or eliminate the area
Burning- The baking of ceramic products to develop hardness and other properties.

Making a Black and White Print

1) You need a darkroom, plastic containers for the chemicals, the film
3) First you must go out and shoot your pics then you take your pictures into the darkroom, open the film let them go through the solutions and then into the stopper after that let them hang and dry.

Post Reflect

1) It was pretty hard catching emotions with everything moving and people constantly walking around but besides that it was alright and fun to do.
2) I was more focused on the focusing because if the pic is blurry then honestly it isn't worth it.
3) Well in a classroom setting you see more repetition than anything also leading lines so I wanted to try to capture that also in my pics.
4) Try angles of shots that I didn't and try different styles instead of basic and leading lines and things like that.

Definitions Of Processing

Contact Print- All frames of negative print film the roll
Agitation- Gentle movement of chemical while processing photos
Enlarger- A apparatus used for used for making projection prints
Developer- A reducing agent or solution used for developing film
Stop Bath- Its a Bin full of water used to stop the chemicals from continuing to darken the pic
Fixer- It is a chemical that gets everything in order for your pic

Film processing Equitment

1) Well you would need Tongs, Chemicals(starter, enhancer, stopper), Chemical Buckets, A Dark Room, Bins To put your chemicals in and a wire with clamps to hang your pics and let them dry when they come out the water.
2) Most of the items you can buy online for a really low price i couldn't find any local places.
3) Well you pretty much have to be inside a dark room before actually pulling your picture out then you dip it in each bin of chemical. Once its gone through all the chemicals and reached the stopper you out in water and let it stay for a day or two.

Video Of American Soldier

A. Because you really get to know his life story i feel that enhances the pictures.
B. Personally i like videos better any day over videos so naturally there going to be better to me.

American Soldier Slideshow!!!

A. The most powerful picture in the sideshow tome is when hes in basic training reading his book and the other soldier is just sitting there thinking. To me it shows they are more than just toy soldiers they have feeling to.
B.Training, Because its kinda of showing the change he goes through which is nice to see.

Great nights always give birth to a rough morning. Get drunk then you sleep outside your house.

Funny Captions

And who said you couldn't be anything you wanted to be. This guy reached his dream of being a soccer ball.

Marlboro Marine

A. Well he had to use a power point app and be very skilled at it also maybe like a audio app also to add the sound.
B. The effect was a lot of fading out and fading in or sliding in from the left or right.
3.
A.-B. The most powerful image from the slide show is probably all before the wedding and later on down the road to where he is in therapy.
C. The audio really doesn't help it for me maybe if it were just music or something it would be better but it just makes it boring for me.
D. It goes kinda through like a list from when he was in Iraq to like after all the way down to his rehabilitation stages.

Filling The Picture

In this pic it is so much that your eyes can connect to there is no things that attract your eyes away from the actual subject your shooting which is good showing that photographer usaed up as much of the pic as he could.

Action!!!!!!

This is the best action pic that was there also because it has so much going on from the football players to the flag boy running they all have emotion in the picture which is really good.

Best Story

I feel this picture tells the best storty out of the grand prize winners because it shows excitement also happyness and just a team overcoming something in my eyes.

Josef Koudelka

I really like the way he approached all of his shot they kind of all make some what of a meaning when i see them. Also he has different types of styles like leading lines also simplicity, framing and its just nice to see it all come together.
He somewhat reminds me of the morale's and wise sayings in life through his pics,he is a very goodcamera man and i really see that in the things he shoots.
From what i have learned he first started shooting in 1962 and in the month of may he later toured the world taking pics as his pictures traveled the world also And he was born in the year of 1938.

Simply Kobe

It really lets you know who and what the camera man/woman wanted to shoot.

Patterns and Design

Leading lines

Cropping

They cropped him to make him seem like he was floating and in the original pic he is dunking.

Creating Depth

The background really gives the pic depth like hes not only playing for him but for the people to.

Great Black and White

I really like these pics because they kinda make me think of history like the bad and the good.

This pic is alright to me its just like a boring picture.

My Pin Shot Ya!!!

1.) They are flipped like the negative and the positive are opposite of each other.
2.) Definition of negative: A negative image is a total inversion of a positive image, in which light areas appear dark and vice versa. A negative color image is additionally color reversed, with red areas appearing cyan, greens appearing magenta and blues appearing yellow.
noting an image in which the brightness values of the subject are reproduced so that the lightest areas are shown as the darkest.

Avoiding Merger

The flags and everything are really spaced and all can be evenly viewed cause they have their own space so they don't block anything off.

Framing

The buildings to the left and the right kind of frame off what the camera man/woman is trying to shoot.

Balance

The picture is on the same level as the actual things they are trying to shoot which creates a balance.

Lines And Pathways

you can see t he lines splitting up the pictures. going vertically and horizontal.

Golden Rule Of Thirds

You can see the background.Where they are going and where they are also at present time also where they are headed.

Not My Style!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of Pic

I didn't like this picture because it was to basic for a first picture. Nothing really kept my attention it was just floor and tile, jeans and shoes = not my type of picture, sorry
The reason i like this picture is because you get to see whats happening inside the class room and it keeps your eyes searching for things you might have missed before. Whoever took this picture really came at it a different way, it seems like they were thinking as if they were the observer.
